I am not sure why squares feature so heavily in my abstracts, perhaps it is some hankering for order despite a sincere effort to just play and have fun with color. Or its some deep commentary on a fragmented sense of self, who knows. So much of my work is concrete and wasting paint like this is a real exercise in letting go and allowing the materials to work with me. I learn to trust my mistakes and enjoy surprises so much when I work with water. The sharpness of some lines and arbitrary bruising of other colors keeps me mindful of impermanence and beauty in all that we do even if it isn't intentional.
